In accordance with these basic policies, we will continue to support female junior and senior high school students nationwide in their pursuit of higher education in science and engineering and in the formation of career paths in the same field.<\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"sgb-css-id-3\">\n<p>We declare the following basic policies for all our activities and will conduct such activities in accordance with these policies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><strong>We will observe the laws and regulations of Japan and will conduct our activities in compliance with such laws and regulations.<\/strong><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><strong>We will not discriminate, in any way, on the basis of gender, age, nationality, race, ethnicity, culture, religion, disability, and sexual minority status, among others, and will respect these individual differences.<\/strong><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><strong>We will not engage in any religious education or activities.<\/strong><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><strong>We will operate in a manner that remains unbiased toward collaboration with any particular organization or company and that considers the balance and diversity of its overall business activities.<\/strong><\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n<div id=\"sgb-css-id-4\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\">(Adopted at the 3rd meeting of the Board of Directors in FY2022)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div id=\"sgb-css-id-5\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-sgb-headings sgb-heading\" id=\"i-2\"><span class=\"sgb-heading__inner hh hh9\" style=\"background-color:#68b48a;border-color:#68b48a;font-size:1.2em\"><span class=\"sgb-heading__text\" style=\"color:#FFF\"><strong><strong>Declaration of Sustainable Development Goals<\/strong><\/strong><br><strong><strong>by NPO STEM Career Path Project for&nbsp;Girls (GSTEM-CPP)<\/strong> (May 2022)<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"96\" src=\"https:\/\/gstem-cpp.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/SDGs_en-300x96.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-806\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gstem-cpp.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/SDGs_en-300x96.png 300w, https:\/\/gstem-cpp.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/SDGs_en-768x245.png 768w, https:\/\/gstem-cpp.or.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/SDGs_en.png 922w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-sgb-box sng-box box16\"><div id=\"sgb-css-id-6\">\n<p>This organization endorses the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by the United Nations and is committed to proactively working toward the realization of a sustainable society.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"sgb-css-id-7\">\n<p>\uff081\uff09&nbsp;Eliminate gender disparities in education.<br>\uff082\uff09Promote women\u2019s empowerment and gender equality.<br>\uff083\uff09Encourage effective public, public\u2013private, and civil society partnerships.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on the SDGs 4, 5, and 17, we will collaborate with various academic associations, companies, and other organizations from the global perspective to achieve the abovementioned targets. With the support of more than 40 academic associations and companies, we offer a training program entitled the \u201cSummer School for Junior and Senior High School Girls: Encounters with Science, Technology, and People,\u201d which will be conducted on a nationwide scale every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-sgb-headings sgb-heading\"><span class=\"sgb-heading__inner sgb-heading--type1 with-icon\" style=\"background-color:transparent;border-color:transparent;font-size:1.2em\"><i class=\"fa fa-chevron-circle-right\" style=\"color:#11a452\"><\/i><span class=\"sgb-heading__text\" style=\"color:#333\">Current Situation in Japan as Background<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<div id=\"sgb-css-id-8\">\n<p>The percentage of female students in science and engineering departments at Japanese universities reaches 28% and 16%, respectively (Basic School Statistics 2020). The figure is the lowest among 38 OECD countries. Scholars have pointed out that the fascination and appeal offered by science and engineering in terms of working in this field are only partially conveyed to female students. The reason may be partially due to an unconscious bias.
